 HYMN:  Ancient Words

 CHORUS: Adonai I worship You

Our Father, creator of heaven and earth we bless your holy  name. We thank you for the gift of life and this new day you have blessed us with. We declare that you are good and your mercies endure for ever. We thank you for the gift of salvation through Christ Jesus.

 BIBLE TEXTS:

 2 Corinthians 5:17

Romans 12:1- 2                                                                                  Hebrews 4:12

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.” (2 Corin 5:17 NKJV ).

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life: your sleeping, eating, going-to work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MESSAGE version).

“For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:8 NKJV)

Good morning brethren, we thank God for His faithfulness and mercies and the RCCG Convention earlier this month. We thank God for the grace to participate and the profound teachings from our father in the Lord; sanctification and being more than conquerors. By His Grace we each enter the new wave of glory. Amen.

SANCTIFICATION:                                                                                                              This morning let us again pray that we continue to truly be new creatures from the old one that professed unto salvation on meeting with Christ Jesus. And that we are actually set apart unto the Lord.                                                   We are admonished in Romans 12:1-2 to not just flow with culture and generally acceptable practices of our generation, but actively think and choose what is pleasing to God.  There has to be a change from inside out, that is at the level of thoughts.

More Than Conqueror:                                                                                                We learnt at the Convention that the greatest victory we each require is not over perceived adversaries, but over SELF! Pride, anger, lusts, greed, gluttony, laziness, flippant talk and wrong attitudes etc etc are all to be conquered.

These are largely issues which may often not be readily evident or recognised by other people. They are birthed and nurtured in the mind, though outward actions may strive, and even go to great lengths to hide them. “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?” Jeremiah 17:9 NLT.

Thoughts are the fountain, and incubator of all that is against God’s will. Even if negative thoughts remain as such, and are not actually acted out, they can still amount to sin. Unlike human laws and statutes which require actual execution to warrant prosecution and sanctions, that which remains in the heart as negative thoughts still constitute sin before the Lord. “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust for her, has already committed adultery with her in his heart”. Mathew 5:28

 ACTION:

Sanctification is a lifelong process by the will of God, and through His power.

”you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” 1 Cor 6:11

“just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing if water by the Word,“ Ephesians 5:26

Sanctification and victory over self, cannot be by superhuman effort, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, and the washing of water with the Word of God. But what is the doing by believer? Apostle Paul provides a good model:

“Not that I have already obtained, or am already perfected, but I press on, that I may lay hold of that which Christ Jesus has already laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 3:12-14

Apostle Paul had a goal: he forgot the past, he took hold, he strained and pressed forward. Paul actively chose to forget the past, ie change his mindset, values, old thought process and focus on his goal. So the Holy Spirit will enable us as we wash in the water of the Word and renew our minds.

Apostle Paul goes on to give good advice in Phil 4:8-9 of what to focus the mind on and do. He enjoins we take him Paul as an example, and do what we learn and receive at the feet of the fathers.”—–whatever things are true, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      PRAYER

Father, I thank You for grace unto repentance and salvation in the blood of Jesus Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.

Father, I ask for grace to be truly and increasingly sanctified unto You.

Father, I ask that my mind and thoughts are daily washed and renewed by Your Word. (Phil 5:26, Hebrews 4:8)

Father I ask for a daily infilling by the Holy Spirit to empower sanctification and victory over myself. (Phil 4:8)

Father, thank you for answers to prayers. Amen.

Glory to God! Amen!

Shalom.

Thank You Jesus.

Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Philippians 2:16

Psalms_9-1: I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

Read: Philippians 2:12-16
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Message

Matthew_10-16: Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves

Matthew_10-16: Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves

Without controversy, the salvation that Jesus Christ has brought to mankind is free and for anyone who will receive Him. The way to receive this salvation is revealed to us in Romans 10:9:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Have you confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord? Do you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead? Have you asked that your sins might be washed away by His blood? If you have done these, congratulations, you have received the free gift of salvation. However, you need to know that the salvation you have received is the beginning of a process that will culminate in your living eternally with God in Heaven, with a transformed body which death and sin have no power over (1 Corinthians 15:50-56). This is the same type of body our Lord Jesus Christ resurrected with and has right now in glory (1 John 3:2). It is at the event where this transformation will take place, referred to as the rapture, that the ultimate experience of the salvation in Christ Jesus will be revealed and received by you. Apostle Paul speaks of this in Hebrews 9:28, while Apostle Peter further expounds on it in 1 Peter 1:5:
“Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

While awaiting the revelation of the ultimate experience of salvation, the devil, the world and the flesh will work to derail the salvation experience you have received by trying to lead you back to the sins you have been saved from. That is why Jesus in Matthew 24:13 says:
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
You therefore need to endure and not give in to them. You need to continue living in the reality of the salvation from sin which you have received by enforcing your victory over sin. If you return to your former sins, you will not partake of the ultimate salvation experience which shall be revealed and received at the appearing of Christ. Enforcing your victory over sin everyday involves a lot of work. It involves the use of God’s word against temptations, the renewing of your mind, praying for grace and fasting to keep the cravings of your body under check. Apostle Paul refers to this work in Philippians 2:12. The Lord will sustain you as you work at it to the end in Jesus’ Name.

Psalms_91-2: I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust

Psalms_91-2: I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust

Prayer Point

Father, grant me grace to keep at the work required to sustain my salvation in Jesus’ Name.
